In front, sitting, are Princess Irene of Hesse, Grand Duchess Sergei of Russia (formerly Princess Elisabeth of Hesse, also called Ella), Grand Duchess Viktoria Melita of Hesse, and Grand Duke Sergei of Russia. In 1894 Czar Nicholas II married the Alexandrovich Princess Alice, aka Alexandra Fjodorovna, daughter of the Grand Duke Ludwig IV of Hesse
