Practicing the Roman salute for little Balilla boys, 1934

In the Fascist Italian youth organization Opera Nazionale Balilla, the youngest members between the ages of six and eight were called Figli della lupa (Wolf Children). One of the first exercises for the new members was to learn the Roman salute, which in the picture from 1934 all the boys show to their instructor. The Figli della lupa had been founded the previous year and was intended to bind the children to the fascist regime with playful exercises
