The pressurized gondola of Auguste Piccard's altitude flight
The Swiss stratosphere researcher Auguste Piccard and his assistant Paul Kipfer undertook an altitude flight attempt on 27 May 1931 in a pressurized gondola which was carried by a balloon. He reached the altitude of 16, 000 m and landed on the glacier at Obergurgl in Austria
