Proclamation of the establishment of the Kingdom of Bavaria

This photograph shows the proclamation announcing the establishment of the Kingdom of Bavaria and the appointment of the former Elector Maximilian Joseph as King of Bavaria. Together with 16 southern German princes, Bavaria resigned from the Reich and founded the Rhine Confederation in Paris under Napoleon's protectorate, which was followed by 20 other German territories until 1811. The political center of this group directed against Vienna is Munich
