Protest againt British war loans in New York, 1915

A man protests with a poster against the allocation of war loans to Great Britain. The poster claims the British King George V required one billion dollars and England would be prepared to sacrifice the last American dollar. War costs during WWI were covered partially by foreign aid and loans from the Allies, mostly from the USA. The war debts of the European countries to the USA heavily strained the international economy after WWI, therefore in WWII the U.S. granted its assistance to the Allies through the Lend-lease system
