In the East Prussian Narthen, members of the Deutsche Freischar opened their headquarters in a farmhouse and raised their flag on a mast. The Freischar, who maintained a folkish lifestyle and cultivated soldier myths, were employed here to help the cut-off peasants in East Prussia.
