On the 10th June, 1939 the Olympic Congress in London decided to hold the 1940 Winter Games in Garmisch-Partenkirchen instead of St. Moritz. The enthusiastic citizens of Garmisch-Partenkirchen immediately refreshed the flaking colours on the Olympic rings
