Remigration of Italians from Tunis to Naples, 1939
On 28 March 1939, the first of a total of 25000 Italians arrived in the port of Naples. They emigrated with their families from Tunis in the French colony of Tunisia, as tensions between fascist Italy and democratic France were increasing. The fascist regime had made an offer to the emigrants to return home'. In Naples they were welcomed with flowers and parcels with the inscription Duce
