The street at the Reichstag building that earlier carried the name of the first former Chancellor and longtime foreign minister Gustav Stresemann was renamed during the Nazi regime in Saarlandstr. The background of the naming was the previous referendum on the return of the Saar to the Reich, that was independent since the Treaty of Versailles
