In January 1939, shortly before the conquest of the capital of Catalonia by the Spanish national troops of General Francisco Franco, Republican recruits bid farewell to their relatives shortly before their departure to the front. The fighters are already sitting in a bus ready for departure. At the time when the photo was taken, fightings took place in the city center, which Franco conquered on January 26, 1939
