Photo of Republican soldiers captured by Franco's troops in Santander, Cantabria, Spain in August, 1937. On August 26, Spanish national units captured artillery and about 200 aircrafts by a concentrated offensive of ground forces. About 20, 000 Republican soldiers were captured and placed temporarily in the bullfighting arena in Santander. Prisoners were mistreated and executed by the Spanish nationals
