The Aschinger restaurant, Berlin - Historical: restaurants, Germany. The Aschinger restaurant was famous in Berlin and far beyond for having bread baskets on each table which could be consumed by guests free of charge. The Aschinger was founded in Berlin in 1892 and was particularly known for its large standing beer halls. The first store named Bierquelle was opened on 1 September 1892 in the Neue Rossstrasse 4. Further places followed in busy places such as Leipzig, Potsdamer and Friedrichstrasse, Rosenthaler Platz, Alexanderplatz, Hackescher Markt and Werderscher Markt
