The two polar aviators Richard Evelyn Byrd (left) and Lincoln Ellsworth (middle) meet the Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen on board the ship SS Bergensfjord, with which Amundsen sailed to Norway. Byrd claimed that he was the first to successfully fly over the North Pole in May 1926
