Roald Amundsen (born 1872, missing since 18.06.1928), Norwegian Arctic explorer. On 15.12.1911 he was the first man to reach the South Pole a month before the Englishman Robert Falcon Scott. In May 1926 he flew over the North Pole with the airship Norge, together with L. Ellsworth and Umberto Nobile
