Giuseppe Zangara (center), who committed an assassination attempt on President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, during the trial. Zangara tried to shoot President Roosevelt on 15 February 1933, who was giving a speech in Miami The assassination attempt failed. However Zangara injured Anton Cermak, the Mayor of Chicago and four other people. Cermak died on 3 March of his gunshot wound. Zangara was sentenced to death by electric chair
