Rothenburger Meistertrunk (Master Draught), 1931

A historical parade at Ploenlein during the festival accompanying the Rothenburger Meistertrunk (Master Draught). In 1931 it was the 500th anniversary of the Meistertrunk. In 1631 Rothenburg was occupied by the imperial troops of Graf Tilly after fierce resistance of the town. He was given a welcome drink, which was a tankard with approximately three liters of wine. The Graf was becoming milder and he announced consideration if one of the mayors could empty the tankard in one go. This way Mayor Nusch saved his hometown. The story was adapted for theater in 1881 for the first time
