Ruins of the convent of Christ, Tomar, Portugal

View of the ruins of the convent of Christ in Tomar, Portugal. The Castle was built in 1159 by the Templar convent and later extended. It rose into a grand building. Its centre is the Knights Templar church, an early Gothic hexadecagon central building (12th century) with an attached church built by Christian Knights. A renaissance Cloister building as well as two more churches. After the abolition of the Templar convent, the building was taken over by the convent of Christ
