Scene from Evangeline, directed by Edwin Carewe, USA 1929. The movie is set in the 1740s in Acadia, which was originally colonized by France, in 1713 partly and 1763 it became entirely British. In the scene are British soldiers in the village of Grand Pre in Nova Scotia. The male inhabitants of Acadia are conscripted by the British military for the upcoming Seven Years War against France (1756-63). One part of the Acadians rebels against this forced military service and is deported and expropriated
