Schmuckblatt-Telegramm - decorative telegram
On the occasion of the 1939 Reich Party Congress, the German Reichspost introduced, as in the previous years, a special reduced-priced decorative telegram for use in internal German service and in the area of the Free City of Danzig. The Schmuckblatt (decorative page) Reich Party Congress of Peace was produced in four-colour intaglio according to a design by the artist Willy Knabe in Berlin-Charlottenburg. On the front side (see 338877) is depicted the imperial eagle with the swastika in its fangs, on the back side (see 338878) is a quotation from Adolf Hitler: We have given Central Europe a great...peace, the peace that is protected by German power
