Schuette-Lanz airship after a rise, 1911
After the Zeppelin crash in Echterdingen in 1908 the airship designers Dr. Schuette and Dr. Lanz began the development of a new streamlined airship type. The semi-rigid airship from Schuette-Lanz initially was only a balloon made dirigible by a motor and a wheel with stiffened keel. The airship that rose in Mannheim is to land where the company Schuette-Lanz founded in 1909 was built
