Schuette-Lanz airship S.L.I. in the Mannheim hangar, 1912
After the Zeppelin crash in Echterdingen in 1908 the airship designers Dr. Schuette and Dr. Lanz began the development of a new streamlined airship type. The semi-rigid airship from Schuette-Lanz initially was only a balloon made dirigible by a motor and a wheel with stiffened keel.
