Soldiers during a cease-fire in Kholm, 1942
During a lull in the fighting, two German soldiers rest in a tent. One of them is playing a flute, the other is writing a letter back home. During the battle of Kholm, the Kampfgruppe Scherer successfully defended the town for 105 days.
