Soldiers of Reich army sworn in before Hitler
Soldiers of the Reich army are sworn in in the presence of Hitler. The law pushed through by the Hitler regime, to combine the duty of Reich President and the Reich Chancellor made Adolf Hitler also the commander in chief of the Wehrmacht (army). The swearing in of the troops, such as here the Guards regiment in their Berlin barracks Moabit, too place on the day that Reich President Paul von Hindenburg died, hence the wearing of black ribbons on the left upper arm
