Spring parade of the Guard Corps, 1912
The Gardes Corps which was stationed in Berlin was one of the elite units of the Prussian Army. In the photo, the infantry parades in company front, meaning in lines of 100 soldiers each. It took months of barracks drill to achieve the precision required by the Prussian drill regulations for this parade march
