Sudeten German Freikorps in Asch, 1938
Men of the Sudeten German Freikorps defend the city of Asch (today As) with a machine gun. The weapons originate from the left-behind armory of the Czech army. The two men are wearing swastika armbands. Since the seizure of power of the National Socialists in Germany, the conflicts between the Sudeten German minority and the Czechoslovaks had intensified. According to the Munich Agreement in October 1938, Czechoslovakia had to cede the Sudeten German territories to the German Reich
