Thanksgiving speech by Hermann Goering in Berlin Sportpalast
On October 4, 1942, Thanksgiving Day, Reichsmarschall Hermann Goering (center, at the lectern) gave a Thanksgiving Speech at the Sportpalast in Berlin-Schoneberg. In the speech he assured to secure food for the German people in the approaching winter. Behind Goering on the right is Agriculture Minister Herbert Backe, and probably Joseph Goebbels in the center at the bottom of the picture. In the picture, Goering awards the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the War to the farmer leader Ernst Ritter (black suit) and the farmer leader Fritz Leffler (next to him on the right)
