Thule Society emblem
The emblem of the Thule Society, comprising a swastika, dagger and oak leaves. The Thule Society was established in August 1918 by Rudolf von Subettendorf, a German occultist. The occult element was soon overshadowed by a shift in emphasis to political, nationalist and anti-semitic theories. In 1919 a member of the Thule Society, Anton Drexler, established the German Workers Party (Deutsche Arbiterpartei) which later developed into the NSDAP, the National Socialist Workers Party, otherwise known as the Nazi Party. However, Hitler himself was never a member of the Thule Society, and it was subsequently suppressed in the mid 1930s
