Transfer - Hereditary Prince Alfred of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha

The coffin of Hereditary Prince Alfred of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha was transferred from Friedenstein Palace in Gotha to the Palace Church in February 1899. The prince had died as a result of a suicide attempt in Meran on 6 February 1899. The first person to walk behind the coffin is presumably the father, Duke Alfred. Soldiers stand in formation in the inner courtyard of Friedenstein Palace
