Trunk of a sequoia tree in Washington, 1932
The trunk of this sequoia tree is being removed in Washington to make room for new buildings. The tree trunk's diameter is about 8 meters and its circumference is about 28 meters. It is the trunk of a 300-year old sequoia tree, which was moved from the World Fair in Chicago in 1893 to Washington where it has been ever since. The tree trunk was moved to an experimental farm belonging to the Department of Agriculture in Arlington. In the background on the right is the Washington Monument
