The Turkish language reform illustrated with a newspaper
The law on the introduction of the New Turkish alphabet that was suggested by Mustafa Kemal Atatuerk, was adopted by the Parliament on 11.1.1928. Until 01.01.1929 all public signs, billboards, newspapers, posters and writings had to adopt the new writing system. The picture shows two editions of a newspaper: from 19/10/1928 with Arabic letters and from 20/10/1928 with Latin letters
