The picture shows a a professor teaching the new alphabet to senior Turkish officials and officers. They are taught the new alphabet right in the Dolmabahce Palace, as Mustafa Kemal Pasha (later Atatuerk) demanded that all his civil servants should learn the new spelling as soon as possible. The law on the introduction of the New Turkish alphabet that was suggested by Mustafa Kemal Atatuerk, was adopted by the Parliament on 11.1.1928. Until 01.01.1929 all public signs, billboards, newspapers, posters and writings had to adopt the new writing system
