Varian Fry in Marseille 1940/41

On behalf of the Emergency Rescue Committee the American Varian Fry helped to save over one thousand artists and scientists from the Nazis. Belonging to his team of advisors in Marseille were, among others, Erich Lewinski (2nd from left), as well as Fritz Heine, Jacques Weisslitz, Daniel Benedite, Heinz-Ernst Oppenheimer, Hans Sahl, Marcel Chaminade and Maurice Verzeanu
