Venus and Adonis, a painting by Domenico Zampiero (1581-1641). Amidst a forested landscape is a very moving group: Left lays the dead Adonis who is being examined by a female figure. On the right is Venus, in a half kneeling position, face and hands are raised complaining while Amor frightened pushes her. In the middle between two women with frightened gestures like all the other characters in the picture dressed with a little piece of drapery
