Vienna Volunteer, 1797
A contemporary view of R. Knoetel from the series Knoetel uniforms, depicts the uniforms of the Imperial Vienna volunteers in the Austria-Hungarian army in 1797. From left to right: the uniform of the Action corps, the corps of the Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Corps and the forces of the outer regions. The University Corps appeared on 14 April 1797 as the first uniformed troops. Their buttonhole is an embedded black and yellow ribbon with the inscription Everything for Emperor and country
