View of the Church of St. Mary

This photograph shows a street in Gdansk in the foreground and in the background the Church of St. Mary. The foundation stone was laid in 1343 and the church was completed in 1502. It was built in Brick Gothic style. It is one of the largest brick churches north of the Alps and inside is room for 25, 000 people. It houses the famous triptych The Last Judgment by the painter Hans Memling
