Water fetcher on the Lowat, 1942

A German soldier uses a bucket to fill the barrel placed on a horse-drawn sleigh with fresh water from the Lovat River near Kholm. During the encirclement battle of Kholm, the Kampfgruppe Scherer successfully defended the town for 105 days.
