On the way to the horse race at Grunewald racecourse
Horse-drawn carriages, wagons and people crowd Reichskanzlerplatz (today: Theodor-Heuss-Platz) in Berlin-Westend in May 1918. They are on their way to the Grunewald racecourse for the popular horse races. Although hardship was omnipresent in the fourth year of the war, it seems to have had little impact on the upscale and wealthy audience at the horse races
