Wilhelm Filchner, 1911
Wilhelm Filchner (1877-1957), German explorer and writer. Between 1903-05 he undertook with Albert Tafel a research trip to Eastern Tibet and China. In 1911/12 he led the Second German South Polar Expedition. In 1911 he was appointed an honorary doctor by the philosophical faculty of the University of Koenigsberg
