Wilhelm Filchner, 1928
Wilhelm Filchner in front of the palace of the Reich President in Berlin. Between 1903-05 he undertook with Albert Tafel a research trip to Eastern Tibet and China. In 1911/12 he led the Second German South Polar Expedition. In 1911 he was appointed an honorary doctor by the philosophical faculty of the University of Koenigsberg
