Woman pulling a cart with two children sitting on it, 1929

A barefoot woman from a working-class neighbourhood in Berlin, pulls a large cart loaded with some goods under a tarpaulin as well as a boy and a girl. Many working-class women earned a little extra money, sometimes through hard physical labour, as the state's welfare laws were not sufficient. The woman walks barefoot, as she saves her shoes for the winter
