The first female representatives in the German Reichstag (from left to right: Schilling, Tesch, Ansorge, Ryneck, Reitze, Bohm-Schuch, Kaehler und Schulz), all educated women who belonged to the SPD (Social Democratic Party of Germany). At the election for the National Assembly in Weimar in January 1919 women in Germany were granted the active and passive right to vote for the first time
