Work-creation program during the time of the New Deal, 1933

A group of workers, who have been assigned to a reforestation project near Luray, do gymnastics at Fort Washington. At the Fort they are trained in the skills that they will need while working on the reforestation project. The reforestation project is the first to be organized within the framework of Emergency Conservation Work also know as the Civilian Conservation Corps'. It is a work-creation program and was one of the measures of the New Deal politics of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, which were intended to help surmount the effects of the Great Depression
