World Economic Conference of Genoa, 1922

Opening of the World Economic Conference in Genoa by the Italian Prime Minister Luigi Facta. The World Economic Conference of Genoa will take place without the United States. The participation of Soviet Russia, means the practical diplomatic recognition of the Soviet government by the West. The Allied States opposed any concession of France urging the reparations. By signing the Treaty of Rapallo negotiated at the same time at the Genoa Conference the German Empire breaks through his foreign political isolation. The treaty signed by Reich Chancellor Wirth and Foreign Minister Rathenau with the Soviet Russia renounced at a compensation of war costs and regulated the resumption of diplomatic relations. The surprisingly finalized Treaty of Rapallo is critically evaluated, especially in France
