Artist's concept of a Hot Jupiter extrasolar planet ?

Artist's concept of a Hot Jupiter extrasolar planet orbiting a sun-like star. The intense heat from the star blows off the planet's atmosphere into space, creating a cometary tail facing directly away from the star. Hot Jupiters are thought to have formed further away from the star, but have been pulled closer by dust that created drag in their orbit, forcing them to move closer to their stars. When being this close, they often get tidally locked to their stars, meaning that they spin around their axis once every time they orbit the star. These planets are unlikely to have moons
