Prestosuchus archosaur from the middle Triassic. Prestosuchus is a rausuchian crocodylomorph from the middle Triassic. They are not dinosaurs, but were the apex predators of this time when dinosaurs first appear. Prestosuchus was 18-23 feet long with shorter forelimbs than hindlegs. Even so, it is believed they traveled around on all four legs and may have reared up on the back legs to attack as an ambush predator
