Boris Yeltsin at Saviour Cathedral
Moscow. January 7. Russian President Boris Yeltsin attended the Christmas service held in the Saviour Cathedral being restored in the Russian capital. A brief prayer was served by Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia as part of the ceremony. Later, the head of the Russian state and the leader of the Russian Orthodox Church took part in the symbolic laying of the last stone of the cathdral's exterior wall.
