Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union. A distant view of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant soon after the nuclear disaster on April 26, 1986, decontamination of the area initiated. The accident resulted in massive radioactive contamination of significant areas in Ukraine, Belarus, Russia and other neigbouring European countries.
