Omsk, Russia. A foundation site of the city of Omsk. In 1996 the city of Omsk celebrated its 280th birthday. In 1716 the cossack unit led by Ivan Buchholz, a guardsman of Peter the Great, set foot on the place where the Om river flows into the Irtysh river and founded the fortress which soon grew to become the second largest city in Siberia.
