Memorial to Eleven Hero Sappers at the 114 kilometer
MOSCOW REGION. RUSSIA. On November 18, 1941, to cover the retreat of their regiment's main body, eleven sappers of the renowned Panfilov Division engaged on combat with twenty Nazi Germany tanks and a regiment of foot. The sappers prevented the enemy from advancing, none of them however survived.
