Palace of Facets at Moscow Kremlin, 1991

Moscow, USSR. The Palace of Facets was designed in the 15th century by two Italian Renaissance architects, Marco Ruffo and Pietro Solario. The name derives from the building's distinctive stonework eastern facade with horizontal rows of sharp-edged stones. Once the main reception hall of Moscow Tsars, the Palace has preserved this role up to the present day. Viktor Velikzhanin/ITAR-TASS
